What to expect
There is a growing body of evidence supporting the utilisation of nutrition, lifestyle and therapeutic supplementation to benefit those who have symptoms of a dysfunctional brain, or a diagnosed neurological condition. However, this is a complex journey that requires commitment from both practitioner and client. As such, for any brain related health condition, commitment to regular consultations over a minimum 6-month period is expected.

In the first instance, you will be provided with clinical paperwork to complete. This includes a detailed questionnaire and a timeline, designed to provide your practitioner with detailed information regarding your health and life history. Once this paperwork has been received, your initial consultation is scheduled.
At your initial consultation, your case will be discussed in detail, and initial recommendations will be made regarding your diet and lifestyle, set at a pace that feels achievable. Initial suggestions for therapeutic supplementation may be made at this time.

Functional testing, including gut microbiome testing (Invivo GI Ecologix), Nutrigenomic testing (Lifecode GX) and metabolomic testing (Genova Diagnostics Nutraeval), is recommended for all clients presenting with a neurodegenerative condition, a mental health concern or symptoms of neurodivergence.
Further functional and predictive tests may also be suggested on a case-by-case basis, and may include testing for heavy metals, pesticide and chemical exposure, Lyme disease and associated pathogens, mould exposure and viral load. These tests help to determine the root cause of presenting symptoms. Testing is generally carried out within three to six months, depending on case presentation and the client's financial capacity.
Following the initial consultation, a consultation plan will be put together based on the client's presentation. Areas that we will focus on during our time working together may include:

-
Optimisation of the gut microbiome
-
Optimisation of dietary intake
-
Optimisation of hydration status
-
Therapeutic supplementation to reduce systemic inflammation, support mitochondrial function and correct biochemical imbalances
-
Improvement in sleep quality
-
Stress management
-
Reduction in exposure to environmental factors and optimisation of liver detoxification pathways
-
Addressing other potential root causes, triggers and drivers of symptoms and diagnoses.

On occasion, further support from external practitioners may be recommended, which may include counselling, physiotherapy, acupuncture, and herbal medicine. Support will be provided in finding the most appropriate practitioners.
