Can Functional Medicine support those living with ALS/MND?

This amazing podcast with Dr. Kirstie Lawton and James Maskell talks about a condition that is driving a lot of questions in the UK right now: ALS, known in the UK as Motor Neurone Disease or MND. With recent concern about MND within the professional rugby community, many people are asking the same things: what is changing in the science, where is the hope, and what can nutrition realistically do?

To explore that, Dr. Kirstie Lawton, founder of You Nutrition Clinic, unpacks what supportive, evidence-aware nutrition can look like, what she’s learned from delivering care virtually, and how the ALS/MND landscape is shifting in ways that matter to patients and families.

At You Nutrition Clinic, we understand that there is no 'cure' for MND/ALS - but we do believe that there is a lot that can be done to support symptoms, optimise biological and biochemical pathways and tackle known drivers of the condition. We are doing everything we can to support our clients to optimise gut health and nutrient status, reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, support the mitochondria and clear toxic burden.

MND/ALS is serious and complex, and requires an experienced, evidenced, systems based, considered approach. We don't promise a 'cure'. The only promise we make to our clients is that we are 'all in' with them on this journey and will do everything we can to support them.
